KUALA LUMPUR – DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook has apologised to the people of Sarawak and the state government for any offensive statements that his party members had issued.

Loke said in a statement that he had met with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg at his Kuching residence this morning, accompanied by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“We had a friendly talk. I informed the YAB Premier that if there is any statement by any DAP leaders that has offended the government and the people of Sarawak, I – on behalf of DAP – would like to publicly apologise.”

Loke also hoped that the meeting today will help both parties to contribute towards a more developed and progressive Malaysia.

This follows in recent weeks when Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen made jibes towards GPS’ state leadership.

Chong had even challenged GPS leaders to name the federal projects that were allegedly called off by Pakatan Harapan during its 22-month administration.

DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng had said Sarawak would go bankrupt if GPS continued to govern the state government. – The Vibes, November 24, 2022
